You must be surrounded by some very dense people - I have never encountered anyone that objected to living in the city/closer to the city because they like driving.

So much nonsense in so few words

My husband loves driving. We drive all over the country every summer. There are so many roads across the US that are beautiful and pleasant and you can take them if you give yourself the time. You should try some of those roadways if you want to see people enjoy driving.
by jeremiedicki2 weeks ago
I have, even then, impatient drivers are everywhere. And a few good roads don't magically make an hour of daily commuting tolerable.
by Rempelleora2 weeks ago
You said that nobody in North America drives like they like it. Some do. You don't.
by jeremiedicki2 weeks ago
Many people like driving, nobody likes traffic

What?

then just say that...

I know a few people who legitimately like driving and they seem like aliens to me. What is there to like about it? If I have to commute half an hour to work I'd rather be on the bus where I can read or listen to music and zone out, instead of piloting a personal missile down the freeway. My partner likes driving/commuting to his job because he views it as peaceful alone time and I will never understand how "try not to die at 75 mph while surrounded by reckless strangers" is a peaceful activity.

I love driving more than anything in the world. The key is to have cars that you actually enjoy driving.
by Downtown_Eye_28942 weeks ago
This. I love driving. I have a passion for it. And I have cars that anybody would love driving. I know a lot of people who don't like driving. I also wouldn't like driving the cars they chose, which often cost as much or more than mine.
by Lemkemarcos2 weeks ago
I don't think a car exists that I'd enjoy driving. I dislike driving because I have to pay attention to a dangerous physical activity where timing is really important - it's like if the type of video games I don't enjoy were in real life. Just Mario-jumping between lanes trying not to die. That is just not fun for me! I love going on roller coasters because I don't have to drive them haha
by Anonymous2 weeks ago
I mean, fair enough. To each their own. I've always been keen on it, I used to pester my dad as a 6 year old to let me drive. Funnily enough, I just cannot handle rollercoasters because I'm not in control. I was peer pressured during a school trip into getting into the first row on the Formula Rossa and it was nothing short of traumatising.
by Downtown_Eye_28942 weeks ago
Oh, so the tuned to high hell, stick shift or dct track hunters that make up... 1% of cars in the US? I'm exaggerating a little but 95% of cars are just not fun to drive...
by Rempelleora2 weeks ago
I have 2 DCT track hunters and yes, they're uncommon and exhilarating. I don't exactly disagree with your opinion by the way.
by Downtown_Eye_28942 weeks ago
I don't like driving but I like it better than the alternatives.
by Good-Art-13792 weeks ago
no that's fair

I have never said that sentence in my life. I've had a commute my whole life, and it has made a captive of me in a situation I despise, an hour a day of completely unnecessary stew of cortisol and adrenaline. I always hated driving, and it only gets worse over the years. It used to be maybe once a month that I would find myself driving past some grisly accident scene, now it's at least once a week. At least in my area, it's getting more and more dangerous just to go out.
by Anonymous2 weeks ago
You don't drive and only do drive alongs . You can't say how anyone feels about driving.
by Anonymous2 weeks ago
if only there was a collectively own formed of transportation that could take people through the most common commuter routes...oh wait
by Anonymous2 weeks ago
I hate driving and hope one day I won't need a car. Right now I have been able to walk without significant pain/swelling for like 6 out of the last 18 months? Things looking up overall but it's hard to trust it 🤷♂️

*meanwhile me in a 3rd world country having to drive in roads filled with potholes and no one following the traffic rules
by louieblock2 weeks ago
Exactly bruh. Dudes upset because people want to live the way they want to.
by Anonymous2 weeks ago
I love driving long distances but loathe daily commutes that are necessitated by our car-centric planning. If I had my way I would only drive to other regions. I would love for the everyday things to be within walking/biking/local train distance.
