People getting the reaction they want is often not funny to an outsider... That's just how comedy works, no matter how low brow.

I agree, so many "pranks" these days are so stupid, but ive also seen stuff like this when it becomes obvious that someone is creeping on your conversation. My best friend used to do this on the bus and train when someone was getting really cpmfortable listening to our conversation she would start talking about having diarrhea, herpes outbreaks and stuff, or start discussing really dirty sexual talk, it was pretty hilarious to see the evesdropper immediately look disgusted and try to act like they weren't listening.
