People in the UK should call it mum's day rather than mother's day. amirite?

No lol, other countries call it Mother's Day too so we also deal with the ‘confusion'

Counterpoint: Americans should call it Moth-er's day with an enunciated O since the O in the regular word Mother is pronounced like a U anyway, which is why we in the UK say mum. It makes sense.

FFS, it's still MOTHER in the UK. We didn't drop the full word, we just shorted it like a lot of people do across the world and other words and names too.

Isn't mum more prevalent?

Mum is the correct English spelling. Mom is the simplified American

I'm sorry, but how is a word that's exactly the same amount of letters, including consonants and vowels, and is the same amount of syllables "simplified"? There must be a further explanation than that………
