The title makes it seem like its based off license titles, but then it acts like its about fan games, and then in the end it talks about making a profit? I'm pretty certain if you make a game based off a TV show/series and you're selling it, it would be considered copyright infringement.

I remember the Tron and Star Wars arcades games being absolutely legendary, I believe Tron actually made more money than the film and Star Wars still makes the short list of all-time great arcade video games So there are definitely exceptions and the exceptions started early But yeah we've seen more bad ones than good though that's true for all genres

This isn't even an unpopular opinion or hot take. In fact for pretty much my entire life (I'm nearly 40) it has been a near universally agreed truth that 90% of licensed games were thrown-together garbage. Mostly because it's big movie/TV studios licensing out titles to small developers to slap something together for store shelves in about half the time they realistically needed. And there are exceptions. But they are typically much rarer=- like for everyone one good Lord of the Rings or Star Wars game, there's 2-3 bad ones. Things have gotten a little bit better recently though with certain titles, though. As technology gets better and more developers come along, it's getting easier for good games to actually get made. But there's still plenty of bad ones.

they COULD be good, but most of the time, they are made just to serve as a cash grab. Some shows/series could lend themselves really well to a game, like most anime, but we never get an actually decent game from them however
