There was a period in time where all of my friends would meet up once every few weekends to watch whatever major UFC fight was on... The product they have now is so laughably watered down compared to back then. I literally don't even know 3/4 of the fighters and anytime I do catch a fight it's pretty mediocre. Then there's the fact that it used to be a fairly respectable sport with martial artists from different backgrounds facing off in a competition to see who's better. Now the sport feels like it's filled with every macho asshole on earth and Dana White could not come off as a bigger prick if he tried. There was a long time where I defended the UFC against attacks that it's just a bunch of dumb dudes beating each other up. Unfortunately it now feels like that's exactly what it is.
by Salt_King2 days ago
Me too..
by Other-Environment2 days ago
If the fighters were paid fairly, I feel like that would reflect on the actual product being better
by allan702 days ago
And I would literally be less inclined to sail the seas if I ever wanted to watch their product.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Higher pay would mean less fights and worse product unfortunately.
by bartholome182 days ago
OR, hear me out, less profit for the people that don't risk their lives in the octagon
by Anonymous2 days ago
So you're saying people would fight less because they wouldn't be as desperate? And desperate people fighting for money is what leads to a better product? If that's an accurate summary, I guess I could believe it would be possible, but I think it would horrify me even more. Since this would be a company running a $150+ million profit who could throw another million to desperate fighters ruining their bodies for the company, but choose not to.
by Anonymous2 days ago
100% convinced Dana stripped the fighters of their ability to take on sponsors on shorts and banners to have wayyyyy more leverage over them
by Brycenvolkman2 days ago
Have you ever bought a PPV?
by Anonymous2 days ago
How does Dana White's semen taste.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Yes, ppv money goes straight to fighters and not into tomatohead's bank account ahahaha don't be stupid.
by Physical-Row2 days ago
Agree, it lacks characters now and is dominated by boring Russian wrestlers. Chuck liddell, rampage, gsp, Anderson silva, bisping , bj penn...that was peak ufc. Even if technically they would all (exception of gsp) lose to the current competition, at least they were exciting
by Anonymous2 days ago
There's currently on two proper wrestlers who are currently champ what u talking about
by Due-Alfalfa-1342 days ago
Maybe "dominated" was the wrong word, I took it more as "full of" than "lead by". But there are a lot of Russian-originating dudes in the ufc now.
by Anonymous2 days ago
By a lot, you mean like 10%.... And even among them only a handful are ranked and only two of them are champions. And funnily enough one of them is an insanely entertaining champion as well (Islam Makhachev). Your point is invalid by all means.
by Anonymous2 days ago
"Boring wrestlers"- lists GSP as peak LMAO
by Isom642 days ago
Eh the only ones who won mainly off of control time wrestling has been ank/merab. Islam has some crazy entertaining fights and has a finish in something like 8 of his last 9 fights.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Honestly I think the fighters have gotten soo good from a technical standpoint. Everyone is practicing the same methods coming into the sport with broad skill sets but are rarely elite in a single discipline. You would have real BJJ black belts going against lifelong muay Thai students or a wrestler with knockout power vs a cardio machine. The matchups that make exciting fights are slowly being phased out of the gamem
by Oscarbarrows2 days ago
It's one thing back in the day to pay $50 an month for cable and then order a $39.99 ppv everynow and then Anybody wanna tell him?
by Anonymous2 days ago
I mean the fights are so bad that Dana White fought his wife..in public...on camera...
by Anonymous2 days ago
It's wild how far the UFC has dropped off in the last six years or so. Back when McGregor was at his best, it really looked like they were heading toward NBA or MLB territory in terms of mainstream popularity. Then McGregor crashed into addiction, the UFC went full throttle with some strong far-right messaging, and the fight cards started feeling repetitive. These days, I'll still watch PPVs if there's a title on the line (which I sail the high seas for 🏴☠️), but Fight Nights? Barely touch them, and I don't keep up with much UFC stuff beyond the major PPV events. That's a far cry from 2014 to 2019, when every card felt like a huge moment, something I'd build up to all week, watching every Embedded episode to get pumped. That thrill has been missing for a good while now.
by Eudoraswaniawsk2 days ago
Its embarassing that the UFC only did 3 McGregor ppvs since the Khabib fight. ESPN must be pissed
by jacobsonchase2 days ago
Problem is they have barely any stars. They were hyping Alex Pereira as the face of the company but he's too old.
by Ready_Tough2 days ago
They don't need stars anymore, they don't do creative promoting like they used to. And it's all because they have no competition in the sport of mma. Nothing is forcing them to grow. Forexample, Artem Vakhitov is arguably a better kickboxer than Izzy and Alex, yet they refused to sign him cause they wouldn't budge on their $10k show/$10k win contract offer. If they actually had competition in the mma market they would've been forced to be more aggressive in pursuing him.
by Huelsvivianne2 days ago
Wwe wrestlers at the bare minimum get 355k. For ufc fighters it's 10k...
by Anonymous2 days ago
If true that's crazy pay disparity, but don't wwe superstars work more events? Still crazy pay gap though.
by Carolyn242 days ago
Is it a pay gap when they're doing completely different things to earn the money though?
by ninapagac2 days ago
In 2023 Seth Rollins wrestled 100 times. It's pointless to compare the two.
by Full-Independent2 days ago
Pretty sure its 10k show up and another 10k if u win for ufc fighters at the bare minimum. Youre right ab the wwe thing though. The reason some of the fighters go so hard on the prelims and have absolute banger fights is because they NEED the money so they try win while the higher paid fighters have less to lose so thats why some of their fights are slower paced
by Anonymous2 days ago
Yeah, that's not a recipe for success long term. TKO added WWE, and then On Location, because their buy rates have stagnated and they want more VIP experiences to supplement that income stagnation.
by Emergency-Airline2 days ago
Actors have always made more than fighters, yeah?
by Anonymous2 days ago
What? People really only get 10k to get the beating of their life?
by Anonymous2 days ago
I'm looking forward to the (inevitable, eventual) Netflix docuseries exposing Dana White.
by Anonymous2 days ago
It's ran it's course sadly. Dana pimped it out for cash. I rarely pay it much interest these days.
by Greenfelderagus2 days ago
I think Fury vs Joshua and Joshua vs Wilder were ruined more because those fighters started losing tbh. Canelo vs Benavidez and Tank vs anyone are the ones getting away from us
by Anonymous2 days ago
I still watch it because i love mma, but the idea that everyone thinks Jon is the goat is just flat out incorrect.
by WrongWin55792 days ago
It's a bit boring, a bit corrupt and more than a bit right wing. Lost interest years ago.
by Anonymous2 days ago
The fighters arent as mixed as they used to be anymore. I miss karate and judo and greco roman. Its BJJ now and Muay Thai. Its saturated.
by Gisselleklein2 days ago
Cause overtime people realized some styles aren't as effective in mma.
by Huelsvivianne2 days ago
No it's not, it doesn't really seem like you know what you're talking about. It's wrestling/sambo heavy now (which can be boring for many people), but the UFC also just had two back to back kickboxing title-reigns at 185 and 205 with Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. BJJ was dominant in early MMA. It hasn't been dominant in like 10 years lol. MT shows up here and there but again, has not been dominant since like Anderson Silva's prime lol
by Connect_Draw2 days ago
Agreed that it's garbage
by Anonymous2 days ago
It's like boxing with weight classes, there just two men of the same height and build fighting in the same way. On a technical level they might be incredibly skilled but from the outside is all the same.
by EastMaintenance14802 days ago
I completely agree. Completely went done with the company when they became Trump rallies
by Anonymous2 days ago
So do you like other MMA promotions?
by ninapagac2 days ago
I occasionally watch one, imo it's more entertaining.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Yea ,I know someone personally who's in the ufc and it's changed him for the worse
by Gloomy-Group2 days ago
I'm a huge wrestling fan, but UFC has never appealed to me. Only time I ever watched a fight was when Cain Velasquez destroyed Brock Lesnar.
by Anonymous2 days ago
their so-called GOAT is a blatant cheat who's been caught using PEDs multiple times Who is that? I'm out of the loop and haven't watched UFC regularly since 1996.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Jon Jones
by Ready_Tough2 days ago
But if you ask a fan of the UFC they will say the Dagestanis are the problem not the rapists and wife beaters
by Powerful-Skill2 days ago
Anyway, the sport is growing exponentially and becoming more popular everywhere. The UFC is the best sport in the world.
by Klutzy-Account2 days ago
you mean MMA right? UFC itself is not a sport.
by Anonymous2 days ago
The UFC is declining mate. Ever since they lost mcgoober and honda housey they aren't able to hit big numbers on PPV's.
by chanelleoreilly2 days ago
The issues isn't that people aren't watching it. Its that there are more ways to pirate it.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Yeah brother, preach. What's other org that has bigger talent and overall quality than UFC in your opinion?
by Ok_Many2 days ago
Got em
by Anonymous2 days ago
When the fighters talk i either cringe from how corny they are or cringe at how dumb they are. When Dana talks you know he's trying to cheat someone out of something. Yeah it is a garbage product.
by Anonymous2 days ago
The last good fight was the first UFC after the Ultimate Fighter with Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar. Since then I watched maybe 4 of 5 PPV's and nothing has lived up to that so I bowed out years ago.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I think most UFC fans would agree with you. They hold way too many events for them to be cared about now. There's a few really good fights a year but so much filler
by Temporary-Oil19532 days ago
who wants brain damage for a pittance
by Anonymous2 days ago
No need to smear WWE.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Boxing has been more interesting than UFC for a few years now. Haven't seen much but I've heard great things about ONE
by Anonymous2 days ago
Why did you throw the WWE under the bus 😭
by SensitiveTest2 days ago
As a South African, I literally only watch Dricus du Plessis's fights and only out of patriotism and national pride. Couldn't care less about the rest of the UFC.
by Hfarrell2 days ago
Almost all participants are domestic abusers and violent men.
by ryan342 days ago
Too many cards dilutes all the cards. Apex Center cards are boring with so few fans. Change the gloves to reduce eye pokes as that continues to be a problem with zero intention to do anything about it. Go to bare knuckle like BKFC, shorter more exciting fights. Don't make the fans pay so much money to watch and then under pay the fighters. I was a big fan, but have slowly grown bored of it.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Go back to no rounds, get rid of that ridiculous 12-6 elbow rule, and paying the fighters more will make better fights
by Anonymous2 days ago
Try Bare Knuckles / BKFC
by huelsjermain2 days ago
For casual viewers, yeah I can see why you'd think that
by Isom642 days ago
Never understood the appeal. Two mostly naked grown men hugging in a cage isn't interesting to me. Seems fairly homoerotic which is ok if that's your thing but most fans I've met would take serious offense from that.
by HumbleGood2 days ago
I agree. I really like the concept of the original UFC, when it pitted different styles of martial arts against each other. Now there is neither anything remotely "mixed" or "martial" about mixed martial arts. Every fighter is trained in BJJ and Muay Thai, leading to boring, predictable fights. And the fighters are generally trash talking thugs that show little respect or humility that a "real" martial artist would.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I hated Joe Rogan before it was cool
by armand732 days ago
I struggle to deal with the rampant advertising at every possible moment.
by MacaroonWilling48482 days ago
When they placed the entire promotion behind a massive paywall charging for the privilege to buy massively overpriced PPVs I was done.
by Anonymous2 days ago
See you next week 😎 (diehard fan also feeling this way lol)
by Anonymous2 days ago
I watched every UFC PPV event from like the Chuck Lidell days until probably 2022. The events turned into political campaigning events and the competition turned into a joke. After the 3 year absence now, I have 0 interest in it and hope Dana drives that company into the ground.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I guess this isn't an unpopular opinion after all. I agree it sucks now
by Anonymous2 days ago
It was a lot better when it was basically randomized fights. Screw your weight classes, I want to see a sumo wrestler fight a lightweight.
by Romaguerapaige2 days ago
I think a lot of it is down to the fact that the most dominant style is wrestling which for most people is not enjoyable to watch. Most of the big title fights have one person looking for takedowns the entire fight. Maybe because I'm a Brit but Aspinall vs Pavlovich was the last time I felt truly excited for a fight. Holloway vs Gaethje too but I'm not sure which was first! Fighters need to be penalized on the scorecards for takedowns that lead to nothing, I'm not watching 3 rounds of fighting for body position
by Hilpertelisabet2 days ago
Not unpopular, ever since they staged the McGregor freakout and pretended to charge him with whatever. It's a carny show just as much as wwe.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I'm not British i'm Belgian but calling someone a wanker is funny imo

everybody already juices in the UFC and nobody's died what are you even talking about?
by Lulugoldner1 day ago
Everyone doesn't juice in the UFC, that's a myth mongs like to spread around. Are you really suggesting MMA isn't an incredibly dangerous sport purely cos no one's died in the UFC yet? And you have the cheek to ask me what I'm talking about
by ninapagac1 day ago
Always has been.
by Anonymous1 day ago
It used to be better before Dana sold his soul to Satan.
by hgislason1 day ago
It feels like the UFC is bigger than ever
by Powerful-Skill1 day ago
Right, it's performative masculinity for insecure men.
by Anonymous1 day ago
That's not true. The promotion and its fighters literally cater to those types of people.
by Huelsvivianne1 day ago
Sure mate
by Anonymous1 day ago
Andrew Tate occasional MMA ok
by Anonymous1 day ago
Don't be pedantic. Tate, the Paul brothers. It attracts A-grade douchebags. Even Trump attends matches.
by Anonymous1 day ago
Tate Paul brothers and UFC ok
by Anonymous1 day ago
He's not comparing it to WWE, he's insulting it by saying a real fighting league is more of a joke than a fake one
by Fast_Consequence33681 day ago
I think the UFC product has been in decline and I'm losing interest. Do you actually find the current day UFC product entertaining?
by Huelsvivianne1 day ago
It's in a rough spot right now. Love the sport, and it's had some highs (Alex Pereiras rise over the past few years has been awesome), but a lot of lows over the past little bit. Champions are largely inactive, have little star power, are obviously completely unbeatable or just plain not exciting to watch… usually a combination of a few. The really exciting guys like your Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway, hell, even Justin Gaethje have been in numerous wars and are understandably fighting less often and talking about the end of their careers. Some divisions are just absolutely brutal with how shallow they are at the moment. It's still something I try to watch every card of, and make sure to check the results if I can't… but right now is definitely not a particularly good time for the sport.
by Aggressive_Log_91601 day ago
Alot of rules need to go. So much for a bloodsport.
by Nitzschelinda1 day ago
It's not a blood sport it's a combat sport
by ninapagac1 day ago
Armored MMA much better . Fight with full armor and weapon .
by Difficult-Bell1 day ago
Karate combat is great too.
by Anonymous1 day ago
I love the UFC. They basically have events weekly now, and when I was first a fan. It may have been every 6 weeks. So it is watered down. But I am a fan of the sport. It's one of the purest forms of physical competition. Just so many skills to account for, human spirit is a big part of it. I have alot of respect for the athletes. WWE is not even a sport, it is a show. I don't even think they are comparable at all.
by Anonymous1 day ago
Okay. Don't watch it then. Pretty simple.
by Anonymous1 day ago
It's not an unpopular opinion. Many people don't enjoy combat sports, especially the more brutal ones like UFC.
by Anonymous1 day ago
But that's about not liking MMA. He's specifically talking about the most popular MMA organisation
by Anonymous1 day ago
I will watch the big fights if i like the fighters but yeah most cards are skips to me Last fight i planned watching was Tsarukyan vs Makhachev, but then Tsarukyan pulled out and Dana threw some random nobody into the octagon with little to no preparation time and surprise surprise he got absolutely mauled This is what i mean when i say the UFC is a joke of a company
