I'm pretty frugal, i don't care if other people aren't. I'm just trying to pay my bills. Some of us have to be frugal to survive. People who take it a notch further, probably don't even have to be frugal. and making it your personality would definitely be insufferable.

The big picture items matter. Not the small one. And just having some basic understanding of a situation so you can make an informed decision. A Rent vs Buy calculator may tell you that it's cheaper to Rent instead of Buy. But that does not mean you should not buy. It means you should understand how much more it costs to Buy, what the benefits and downsides are of buying vs renting. And if it's worth the cost and downsides to get those benefits.

I find most people who are frugal to be a bit icky. I've never met a clean frugal person they keep most things that need to be thrown away in hopes of saving money. It makes me cringe.

At one end are people that spend money that they can't afford and expect family or friends to bail them out, and at the other are the ones that love to build their net worth like it's the most important thing ever. Neither is very pleasant to be around IMO.
